On December 3rd, 600 guests came together in Zurich, for the announcement of the Marmite Youngster Selection winners for 2019.
Youngsters from all over Switzerland took part in this competition, which was hosted by Marmite Professional, in an effort to find and reward the top gastronomic talents coming up in the Swiss culinary world.
There were three main categories which the competitors could enter into;
- Kitchen (Winner: André Kneubühler)
- Pâtisserie (Winner: Esther Gurtner)
- Service (Winner: David Füger)
With prize money totalling over CHF50 000 ($50 000), you can imagine the energy and effort put in by all competitors!
Some of the prizes included:
A trip to Barcelona in a private jet to eat lunch at a Michelin Star restaurant, sponsored by flyZUUM and valued at over CHF17 300
A designer cutlery set valued at CHF3 029 to the winner of the service category.
A meal experience for the winner of the kitchen category and a partner, at Franck Giovannini’s legendary Chef's Table, at the Restaurant de l'Hôtel de Ville in Crissier.
The winner of the patisserie category gets to craft delicious creations with top quality chocolate, to the value of CHF1 000, from Marinello.
The overall winner also gets taken directly into the semi-final of the Golden Chef of KADI, which will take place at the St Moritz Gourmet Festival early next year. This festival brings together well-known fine-dining chefs, celebrities and top quality, luxury establishments into a collection of events, which celebrates the culinary arts and those who indulge in the products of this industry.
