Cannes 2019: French Riviera, Luxury Lifestyle and Glamorous Events

This summer will be a busy one for private jet flights to Cannes, from the annual Yachting Festival to several art events, this beautiful city attracts guests from around the world with its exhilarating events and sights.

Originally overlooked as just an ordinary fishing village in the French Riviera, Cannes grew in prominence after a chance visit from Lord Chancellor Brougham in the 1800s. After publicly proclaiming its elegance to the upper echelons of British society, Cannes quickly grew in notoriety.

We’ve curated a list of the most opulent events and activities for luxury travellers this summer.

Charter a luxury yacht and visit the annual Yachting Festival (10 - 15 September)

The beauty of Cannes deserves to be explored in its entirety, and luxury yachts provide an extravagant avenue to visit the Îles de Lérins off of Cannes’ coast. These four Mediterranean islands typify the allure and elegance of Cannes, and each one carries its own unique charm. For yacht enthusiasts, Cannes' Yachting festival takes place during September.

Head to the beach

Lined with restaurants, bars and cafés, La Croisette, Cannes' main boulevard, is a locale with something for everyone. Visitors and locals can experience the shimmering waters of Cannes' beachfront firsthand or enjoy a stunning view from the comfort of a cosy café. La Croisette is also famous for its top jewellers as well as designer stores, such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

Pyrotechnic Art Festival (14 July – 24 August)

For over 2 decades, the Pyrotechnic Art Festival has dazzled visitors with its world-renowned pyrotechnic event, drawing in 200,000 onlookers each night. Firework displays are shown on 14, 21, and 29 July as well as 7, 15, and 24 August. To view this technicoloured spectacle, crowds meet alongside La Croisette and watch in awe as 400 metres of the seafront is transformed into a performance, showcasing the height of this alchemic craft.

Jazz à Domergue (2 – 6 August)

Jazz à Domergue is hosted in the evening within the Villa Domergue gardens — a lush and lavish villa heavily inspired by the Italian Renaissance. This year, Erik Truffaz will open the event, and each night promises a range of emerging and influential artists, including Marion Rampal, Anne Paceo, and the Roberto Negro quartet.

Festival of Russian Art (23 – 27 August)

Organised by the Russia Culture Foundation, this annual event is a five-day Russian exhibition that offers guests a bird's-eye view of Russia's rich and diverse mastery of artistic disciplines. The event is an exhibition of each signature feature of Russian culture and includes dances, music, films, art, fashion, and exquisite culinary treats.
